The following was contributed (you know, I always thought that word carried a general air of being for the benefit of others. Never mind, hey.) to u.m.r.a., under the thread title 'Devali=A Devil'. Evidently, that is in some way significant. Equally significant is the first recorded use of the verb 'to hapr'. We're still a little unclear on the etymology, though.
Now that genetic engineering is out of the way no doubt we will have
more hapring on the theme of Oosha's Devali festival. Scripture is
quite clear on the idol-worship of the Hindoos:
John, xiv, 6. Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the
life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
When will the BBC give up its relentless promotion of amoral and
satanic Godlessness (though not godlessness)?
Matthew, vii, 14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way,
which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. 15. Beware of
false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly
they are ravening wolves.

This wasn't our Winston's only such post to umra on the subject. And around the same time, this popped up in rec.sport.rugby.union, from, oh, a Winston Adams:
Hi guys,
If there are any more S&M fags out there who have been GLUED to the TV
since this World Cup began, please e-mail me so we can chew over the
fat (among other things...). Particularly if you live upstate New York
-- though I CAN travel.
And hey, all you rugby fags still in the closet -- come on, get in
touch -- I won't bite you.
Not unless you WANT me to, that is...
Love & Stud-marks,
Yours, typing one-handed,
Win Adams.
PS That Kiwi mf Jonah Lomu can knock me down and trample my ass ANY
day. Guess where
I'm taking MY next vacation?"
And then, posted to alt.religion.christian, 6.11.99. Ah. By one Winifred Adams :
God is Our Mother, "Jesus" was a Womun, and all men go to Hell.

Ah. Posted to a.r.c the previous day. Oh. By a Winifred Adams.
Now take "sheep" and "goats". Even in English, sheep are regarded as
"femayle" animals and goats as "male" ones. In Hebrew, the language
spoken in dialectal form by Chrest, this dichotomoy is directly
expressed in grammar and semantics. One Hebrew word for sheep is rahel,
a grammatically feminine word that originally meant
specifically "ewe" but expanded its semantic range to mean "sheep" in
general. Sheep's wool is soft and comforting, like the skin and hair of
womhn, and rahel could even be used as a womun's name in Hebrew: it
survives in English as "Rachel".
Compare now the Hebrew word for "goat", shaa'iir. This literally means
"the hairy one" and comes from she'aar, "hair" -- the harsh hair of the
goat, or of men: men's hair, and particularly their facial and body
hair, is coarser and thicker than that of womhn. Men are the "hairy
ones", the aggressive, omnivorous goats who will be cast into Hell;
womhn are the "soft ones", the gentle, vegetarian sheep who will be
received into Heaven as a reward for the suffering they have
endured at the hands of men. This is Jesa Chrest's comforting message,
a vital component of the "Good News" for Womunkind that patriarchy, as
we have seen, could only partly suppress, distort, and destroy.
