"When you get old enough not to be crazy any more, your body starts falling apart. But it's still better; at least when you have a good day, you know it".

Happily, the mid-life crisis seems a way off yet. I work for an environmental consultancy based in Hampshire (UK). When I'm in a creative mood, I do some landscape and wildlife photography, and I paint, mostly birds and wildflowers. And I play a pretty mean bit of acoustic guitar too. A few years ago I recorded a cassette of instrumental music I composed, called 'The Wind Horse'. I've re-issued it on CD, and I'm recording some new tunes as well. To hear some tunes from 'The Wind Horse', and hopefully buy a copy, go here.

Maybe later on I'll hand out some more tablature and playing tips too.

I once had 6 or 7 electric and acoustic guitars; now I just have the one - an Aria steel-strung acoustic. I generally use D'Aquisto bronze strings, 11-50 gauge, and when I play amplified, I use an Alesis Microverb III effects unit. It's old technology now, but it's still good. I'm also recording straight to hard disk, using Cakewalk's Guitar Studio software. My work is influenced by a lot of things; a little classical music, a touch of jazz, traditional English and Irish tunes, and probably quite a lot of the Grateful Dead, somehow. My favourite guitarists include John Renbourn, Isaac Guillory, Pierre Bensusan, Nick Harper, Steven Stills, Martin Carthy, Tony McManus, and of course good ol' Jerry Garcia, without whom, etc etc.
